From September 2025, working parents in England can access up to 30 hours of free childcare per week for children as young as 9 months old. This government initiative is a major boost for families, helping to ease the cost of childcare and support children’s early learning and development.
At Shotley Bridge Nursery School, we’re delighted to welcome new families eligible for the 30 funded hours. Whether your child is just starting their journey at 9 months, or preparing for preschool, our nurturing and high-quality environment is designed to help them flourish.
👶 Who is eligible?
You may be eligible if:
- You and your partner (if applicable) are working, including self-employed
- Each earns at least the National Minimum Wage for 16 hours a week
- Neither earns more than £100,000 annually
🕒 How do the hours work?
- You can claim up to 30 hours per week during term time (38 weeks)
- Or spread fewer hours across more weeks of the year
- These can be used flexibly – speak to us about what suits your family best
- You’ll need to apply for a code and renew it every 3 months
